Why choose a standing desk 160 x 80?
This size of standing desk gives you 1.28 square metres to work on. That is a third more than a 160 x 60cm desk and almost 80% more than the common 120 x 60cm size. You notice the extra width as soon as you add a second screen, and the extra depth as soon as you use a big one.
The HSE's advice on good posture puts the top of your screen at eye level and "about an arm's length away", with the keyboard just below elbow height and the screen and keyboard central so you don't twist your back (HSE: workstation posture). On a 60cm-deep top a 32-inch monitor ends up close to your face once the keyboard is in front of it. With 80cm you can put the stand at the back, keep a keyboard and mouse at the front and still have room to rest your forearms.
How many monitors fit on 160cm?
The panel of a 16:9 screen is about 87% of its diagonal wide, so a 24-inch is roughly 53cm across, a 27-inch 60cm and a 32-inch 71cm, before bezels. A 34-inch 21:9 ultrawide is about 80cm and a 49-inch super ultrawide about 120cm.
- Two 27-inch monitors: about 120cm side by side, leaving 40cm for speakers, a lamp or a laptop.
- Two 32-inch monitors: about 142cm. They fit, just, and work best on a dual arm.
- A 34-inch ultrawide plus a 27-inch on its side: about 80cm + 34cm, a popular coding and editing layout with room to spare.
- A 49-inch super ultrawide: 120cm, with 20cm clear each side.
- Three 24-inch monitors: about 159cm of panel, so angle the outer two in on a triple arm or step up to 180cm.
Our dual monitor desks page goes into arms and set-ups in more detail.
160 x 80 vs 160 x 75, 70 and 60
All the desks in this collection are 160cm wide. The depth of each standing desk is what changes, and it decides how far back your screen can sit and whether the desk fits your room.
| Size | Area | Best for | Examples in our range |
|---|---|---|---|
| 160 x 80cm | 1.28m² | Large or multiple screens, drawing tablets, paperwork beside the keyboard | Flexispot ValtreX and EF1B, Office Hippo, Fitstand, Sanodesk, Triumphkey, Ergear, Devoko T60, Vasagle, Leetdesk |
| 160 x 75cm | 1.20m² | Gaming, two 27-inch screens | Funnihomi QS2 (80kg, dual motor), Sanodesk with hooks and cupholder |
| 160 x 70cm | 1.12m² | Two 24 or 27-inch screens on stands | Ergomaker, Ergonomist (50mm/s), Devoko with 3 drawers |
| 160 x 60cm | 0.96m² | Narrow rooms, laptop plus one or two smaller screens | Sanodesk maple, Agilestic, Flexispot maple |
If the room is long but narrow, a 160 x 60 standing desk keeps the walkway clear. If it is roughly square, the 80cm depth is usually worth it.

The spread across these standing desks is wide. Lifting capacity runs from 70kg to 160kg, and the lowest heights go from 60cm to 72cm, which matters if you are shorter than average or want to sit low for gaming.

How to choose a 160 x 80 standing desk
Height range for your build
Sit and then stand in your usual shoes, bend your elbows to 90 degrees and measure from the floor to the underside of your forearm. Both numbers should fall inside the frame's range. Most of these standing desks go from about 72cm to 116-120cm. Taller users should look at the Office Hippo (131cm), Leetdesk (128cm) or ValtreX (125cm). Shorter users get the most from the ValtreX (60cm), Leetdesk (63cm) and Office Hippo (65cm), which drop below a standard 72cm table.

Single, dual or twin motor
A wide, deep top is heavy before you put anything on it, and two big screens, a PC tower and speakers add up fast. Dual motor frames put a motor in each leg, so they lift more weight, more evenly and usually faster: the ValtreX lifts 160kg and the Office Hippo is rated for 120kg. Budget standing desks rated at 70kg are fine for a laptop and one or two monitors. If you lean on the top to write, or load it up, compare our dual motor desks and heavy duty desks.
One-piece or two-piece top
Many cheaper standing desks ship the top as two or four boards joined underneath by steel plates (sold as a "splice board"). It keeps the box small but leaves a seam down the middle. A one-piece top, like the Flexispot EF1B, Fitstand and Sanodesk One Piece, has no join, feels more solid and won't catch your mouse. The trade-off is a long, heavy box, so check the delivery dimensions against your hallway and stairs.

Thickness and stability
Tops in this range are 15mm to 25mm thick. A 25mm board (Office Hippo, Flexispot EF1B) sags less across 160cm and holds a monitor arm clamp more securely than a 15mm one. For stability at full height, look for wide feet, chunky legs (the Triumphkey quotes 80mm by 50mm uprights) and a crossbar or a frame with three-stage legs.
Storage, USB and cable management
Even a big standing desk fills up. The Vasagle, Ergear, Triumphkey and Leetdesk all have a drawer, and the Vasagle adds a raised monitor shelf. USB charging is built into the ValtreX, Triumphkey and Devoko T60, with USB-C on the Vasagle. Browse more desks with drawers and desks with USB ports, and fit a cable tray so leads move with the frame instead of pulling tight.

Safety, noise and finish
Anti-collision sensing stops the frame and reverses it if it meets a chair arm or windowsill. The ValtreX, Office Hippo, Fitstand, Sanodesk, Leetdesk, Triumphkey, Devoko and Vasagle all have it, and our anti-collision desks cover more. Most motors are rated at under 45-50dB. For finish, the range includes white, black, maple and rustic brown. See our wood-effect desks for oak and walnut looks, or black desks for a gaming set-up.
Will a 160cm desk fit your room?
Allow the full footprint of the standing desk plus about a metre behind it for your chair. Check the top will clear windowsills, radiators and shelves at full height, which is up to 131cm in this range. Mind sockets too: the cable needs slack to reach the top height.
Weight is the other thing to plan for when a standing desk arrives. The Ergear (27.9kg), Triumphkey (26.5kg) and Vasagle (29.8kg) are manageable for two people on a staircase. The Office Hippo comes in at 48kg, and dual-motor desks with thick tops are often heavier still.
If you already have a worktop you like, a standing desk frame on its own can be cheaper. The ValtreX frame takes tops from 120cm to 180cm long and 60-80cm deep. The Huuger dual motor frame and the Maidesite T2 Pro Max take up to 220cm long and 100cm deep.
Getting the most from a large sit-stand desk
- Save your heights. Set one preset for sitting and one for standing so changing position takes one press.
- Change position often. The HSE says short breaks often are better than longer ones less often, and changes of activity should let you get up and move (HSE: breaks and work routine). The NHS also advises cutting the time you spend sitting (NHS: why we should sit less).
- Use monitor arms. They free up the space under your screens and let you set each one at eye level.
- Keep the PC off the top. An under-desk mount that rises with the frame saves 20-25cm of width.
- Divide the space. On a desk this wide, keep the screens and keyboard central and use the sides for things you reach for less often.
- Recycle it properly. The motors and control box are electrical waste, so take an old frame to a local recycling point (Recycle Your Electricals).
Building a full battlestation? Our PC gaming desks are picked for weight and stability. For a corner, an L-shaped desk gives you 160cm plus a return.
Standing desk 160 x 80 FAQs
What is 160 x 80cm in inches?
About 63 x 31.5 inches. Desks sold as 63 inches wide are 160cm, but check the depth, as many are only 60cm (24 inches).
Can two people share a 160cm desk?
For short spells, yes, as it gives each person 80cm. For full working days it is tight, with no room for two monitors each. Two 120cm desks side by side give more space and let each person set their own height.
How much weight can a 160 x 80 standing desk hold?
In our range, from 70kg (Triumphkey, Devoko T60, Vasagle) to 160kg lifting (Flexispot ValtreX). The Office Hippo is rated at 120kg, and the Flexispot EF1B and Fitstand at 100kg.
Is 80cm deep too deep?
Not for most people. A deep standing desk lets you push a large monitor back to arm's length. If you are short or have a small screen, items at the back can be a stretch, and a 70cm or 75cm desk may suit you better.
Is a one-piece top worth it?
If the seam would bother you, or you use a mouse across the middle, yes. Two-piece standing desk tops are sturdy enough once braced, but one-piece tops look cleaner and feel more solid.
Do I need a dual motor desk at this size?
Not always. A single motor standing desk rated at 70-80kg handles a laptop and two monitors. If you add a PC tower, heavy speakers or lean on it, a dual motor model rated at 100kg or more will last longer and lift more smoothly.
